Duplicate leap year function

Duplicate of is leap year (Gregorian calendar) (Z10996) - French labels should be added to the original instead of making a separate item. --DannyS712 (talk) 17:07, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Duplicate

Hi,

I created Z12437 (and it's test Z12438) as a duplicate of Does this French verb belong to 1st group? (Z12436). Can a admin delete it? (and/or redirect it?) Thanks in advance. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 14:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Testing objects

  • Z12414 function that takes a string and produces a string, no labels
  • Z12415 implementation of the above that returns the parameter, no labels
  • Z12416 function that takes nothing and produces a string, named 'testing'
  • Z12417 implementation of the above that returns the string 'testing', no labels

We already have a Wikifunctions:Sandbox that lists existing objects that can be used to test with. The first function and implementation seems to be a duplicate of Echo (Z801) (the "echo" function) and the second pair is just testing. --DannyS712 (talk) 06:04, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Pi function

Pi is not a function, its a value. No function that returns a string or integer will ever truly equal its value (unless it returns some string representation of the idea of the value of Pi rather than a string representation of the value 3.14159...). This might eventually be valid as some value type but I don't think we want "functions" that just return static values without any inputs. --DannyS712 (talk) 06:36, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@Ad Huikeshoven: FYI --Ameisenigel (talk) 08:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
I agree that a function is a poor use for Pi, however there should be some sort of functionality for "constant" values like Pi, Tau, or Euler's Number. I believe that as the Wikidata-based data types are introduced and worked on they'd be the best container for numeric constants like these. It seems that if a function could access P1181 (numeric value) of Q137 (pi) that would be a good way to use Pi as a constant without hard coding the float into a function. Keplersj (talk) 22:37, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Done A function for Pi suggests that it actually (tries to) calculate the value for Pi, but Z10859 just gives out a pre-defined value. Since Pi is a endless number it is just wrong to give out a specific value for it. It might depend from the usecase how many digits of Pi you need for your calculation. --Ameisenigel (talk) 08:20, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
