Deletion of Z22277
Hello! I'd like an administrator to review the deletion of Z22277 by Mdaniels5757. The page was deleted with no policy backing or consensus. Additionally, the admin ignored my comment that simply changing the test was a better idea. Deletion despite all of this is very improper, and I hope this decision is reversed. Thanks! - Mdaniels5757 has provided a reason for the deletion: Not everything needs a policy: we should all aim to act reasonably, and that includes not making unnecessary negative statements, particularly when there is no good way to add a citation or context. I fully agree with this conclusion. Completely changing the content of a test is not a good idea either. This could be compared to re-purposing an item on Wikidata (and this is not accepted). --Ameisenigel (talk) 13:47, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Changing one input in the test is not like repurposing a Wikidata item, it's more like changing a statement. Feeglgeef (talk) 16:58, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Feeglgeef Even assuming that's right, I think that this particular statement, given the lack of ability to provide citation or context, should not be in the edit history, even if the testcase were changed. This would be true even if the subject of the statement was not currently suing the Wikimedia Foundation for defamation. I suppose that I could have changed the input and title, and then revision deleted all prior revisions, but that's not at all necessary -- if you have another test case (that doesn't suffer from the same issue), create it. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 03:30, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- I also agree with this rationale for deletion. 99of9 (talk) 05:12, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
