Functioneer request
Hi 👋, I'm the one requesting the functioneer right today at the Wikimania session. Thanks! Bennylin (talk) 10:42, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

In the future, how frequently will you being adding new Funcitoneers?
Hii! So, a while back (mid-October so not that long ago actually) I put my name down to become a functioneer and I am quite eager/selfishly impatient to be able to add functions. It seems that it has been a month now since last time you (that sounds more personal that I mean it as presumably this has more to do with what the WikiFunctions team at Wikimedia thinks is best overall) added new functioneers according to the archive and that is somewhat longer than the prior times. I therefore have to ask a few questions. Firstly, and I hope I am not coming off as too forward/rude, but when can I expect to be able to start adding functions (either from getting made a functioneer or for when non-functioneers can start adding them)? Relatedly, as the Wikimedia Foundation Staff are certainly aware of the handful of people waiting to become functioneers, is the reason for this current hold up related to the plans to alter the scope of functioneers or to roll out function editing for all people with accounts soon? Apologies for all of this, I'm just currently quite excited to be able to use WikiFunctions! And also, thank you for taking the time to read this! Cool314 (talk) 17:44, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Status update 2024-04-11 updated
Hi. I hope its okay that I fixed a link on the status update and also removed the note about memoization which I just fixed in the implementation --DannyS712 (talk) 18:25, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Absolutely! And because you were so fast, I can use this text now for the email. Thanks! --DVrandecic (WMF) (talk) 18:53, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
Licensing
Hello! I'd just like to notify you here, because you've reused some of the code I made for type converters (and because I'm not sure exactly how Apache 2.0 would apply/require here), I agree to license my contributions to them under CC0 . Thanks! Feeglgeef (talk) 16:03, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! My understanding is that with your publication of the code on Wikifunctions you had already published them under Apache 2.0, which means I can reuse them in Wikifunctions. With your additional licensing under CC0 it makes it even easier to reuse the code in Wikifunctions (and other places). Please let me know if your intent was another with this message. Thanks! --DVrandecic (WMF) (talk) 16:11, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- The Apache 2.0 license says that you have to say if you have modified the work you are redistributing with the Apache 2.0. If that does mean you can use and modify it, that's great! Feeglgeef (talk) 16:31, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
