Because a written mode is the main way Wikifunctions could interface with ASL.

- is SignWriting? (Z29248): checks if string contains at least three basic substrings: the letter M, L, or R; a 6-character substring starting with S; and at least two coordinates with numbers between 250 and 749 (e.g. 540x469)
- change SignWriting lane (Z29150): replace the position of written signs to the right (R), left (L), or center (M)
- punctuation mark in SignWriting (Z29270): replaces the following punctuation marks with their vertical SignWriting equivalents: comma, period, colon, semicolon, and parenthesis; with modifiers for slowness (s), fastness (f) and tension (t)
